In the technical world of lifting equipment, where precision and compliance are non-negotiable, Francois Strydom stands out as the human touch behind McKinnon Chain's commitment to quality. As a practical, results-driven individual, Francois thrives on challenges and meaningful interactions, bringing over 40 years of experience to his role as Technical Manager at McKinnon Chain.
Francois has been with McKinnon Chain for the past 18 years, overseeing product design and development, quality management, and technical advisory roles. His career began in the steel manufacturing industry with the ArcelorMittal group, where he spent 25 years mastering quality management, product development, materials applications, and failure analysis investigations. His vast experience in steel and lifting products gives him unique insights into the risks and challenges of the lifting equipment sector.
Other than managing quality, he is responsible for ensuring that every product is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. "My key responsibility is to manage risk on behalf of our customers," he explains, emphasizing his role as the guardian of quality for the company. As a member of the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) lifting equipment body, and a representative at international ISO meetings, Francois not only adheres to the highest standards - he helps shape them.
He defines quality simply: "A fully compliant product at a competitive price delivered on time." This philosophy embodies the "McKinnon way" - a combination of experience, technical excellence, product innovation, and stringent compliance. His dedication to these principles ensures that McKinnon Chain is not just another chain- and components manufacturer, but one that clients can trust.
“Why trust McKinnon Chain?” Francois says, “Because we do things the ‘McKinnon way.’” With Francois leading the charge, that’s a standard you can rely on.
